Lighting concepts
Nothing spices up a party like some well positioned outdoor party lights. Whether subtle or bold, twinkly or dim these outdoor lights can make a big statement and really add a celebrity feel to any outdoor party. In addition, some outdoor lighting is important for safety reasons.
These lights can be relatively inexpensive and various in design which allows you to be creative when thinking about your lighting scheme. You can use lights that are designed for a disco feel or you can use other types of lighting to create atmosphere, There are a number of different types of lighting you can use for your party. The lights you choose will depend on the type of party you are throwing, your budget and the location of the party.
Lighting schemes generally fail to achieve the desired effect if they are not thought about prior, by a switched on individual or arranged in an uncohesive manner. Sometimes drawing a diagram can help you decide what the overall effect is going to be. Parties that involve children or elderly people need to be more brightly lit for safety reasons. Some well placed spotlights might be able to meet all safety concerns. Pathways need to have a certain amount of light as do doorways. Another area that needs adequate light is the food and drink stations. If you have entertainment, that area should be given some extra light. Intimate dinner parties can be further romanticized by dim lights or candle light. Often lights in the distance, for example rope lights twirled around the base of a tree, can add a special touch. In the event you hold your party in an area near water, a great effect is to direct two spot lights at intersecting angles out on to the water. The two intersecting beams can make a dramatic effect and also provide an element of safety.
Rigging and cabling is not as straightforward as one might be led to believe, saftey functionality and look are very important things to take into account and should be done by professionals.
